Community Guidelines
Last updated May 2026
Our space
queer.bar is by and for LGBTQ+ people and allies. Posts, stories, comments, reactions and messages should make the community safer and more joyful. Be the kind of person you'd want behind you at the bar.
Zero tolerance
No hate speech, slurs, transphobia, homophobia, racism, ableism or harassment. No outing people. No threats, doxxing, or sharing someone's location or identity without consent. No sexual content involving minors · ever · and no content sexualising people who haven't consented.
Adults only for 18+ content
Some nightlife content is for adults. Mark it 18+ when you post it; it stays hidden from anyone who hasn't verified they're 18 or over. Don't try to route around age gating.
No spam or scams
No spam, bulk promotion, impersonation, fake check-ins, or links to harmful or illegal material. Venue and performer claims must be genuine.
Consent & privacy
Location sharing is opt-in and yours to switch off. Don't share other people's private information. Treat direct messages as private; screenshotting and reposting them to harass someone is a violation.
Reporting & enforcement
We may remove content and restrict or remove accounts that break these rules. Report any post, comment, message or person from its menu and it goes to our moderation queue. If we remove your content, we'll tell you and you can appeal it. For urgent safety issues, email safety@queer.bar. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services first.
Moderation reality
This is an early build. Moderation is partly manual and imperfect. Guidelines will tighten as tooling lands. Using queer.bar means agreeing to follow them.
These documents are provided in good faith and describe how queer.bar currently works. They are drafts and not legal advice; have them reviewed by a qualified lawyer before relying on them. Compliance with GDPR, the UK Data Protection Act 2018, and US/EU privacy laws is an ongoing organisational responsibility, not something software alone establishes.
